Unity 4 Humanity, Inc.’s
Tree of Unity under the Co-Leadership of
Anthony Galima (CEO) and
Joyce Benson (Sr. Platinum Executive) proudly donated to the “One Laptop Per Child Foundation.” The mission of
One Laptop Per Child (OLPC) is to empower the children of developing countries to learn by providing one “connected” laptop to every school-age child. In order to accomplish their goal they need individuals and corporations who believe in making the education of the world’s children a priority, not a privilege. The revolutionary XO laptops delivered to children in developing nations are “a real world laptop for real world change.” The XO laptops run on Linux, a free and open-source operating system. The utilization of Linux demonstrates OLPC’s forward thinking and commitment to software freedom and flexibility. Linux allows costs to be kept down and at the same time allows the children and their teachers to have the ability to reshape, reinvent, and reapply the software, hardware, and content of the XO laptop. A keyboard shortcut allows children to view the programming behind certain applications. Anthony Galima believes this aspect to be of the utmost importance and said, “Children are explorers. They are unafraid to venture into the unknown. Children reverse engineer, destroy, build, re-build, re-invent, and when they are passionate about something they act tirelessly. Now we have the unique opportunity to give children a valuable, practical educational and social networking tool that is easy to use, fun, and most importantly can adapt and grow with them.”
It is clear that where the software of computers end and where the World Wide Web begins is increasingly becoming more difficult to distinguish between. Web sites are no longer static pages of information or flash, they are becoming pieces of software i.e. Content Management Systems. Business Anthropology Information has illustrated the way the youth utilize technology has forced technology to change and adapt. Sophisticated Content Management Systems in many ways have allowed the Internet to be more accessible because the sophistication of technological devices utilized to surf the web are no longer altering Internet users experience of sites and “dot tv channels.” The youth introduced to a computer such as the XO laptop will openly explore software, programming, and code at an early age. Generations will once again become connected with and have an understanding of technology. A true understanding of the Internet, software, and code will be as natural as sending an Instant Message.
The XO laptop was designed to provide an engaging wireless network. “Sugar” is a revolutionary interface that promotes learning and sharing exclusively available on the XO laptop. Children can connect, chat, share information on the Web; gather by video conference; edit and record music together; edit texts; read e-books; and enjoy the use of collaborative games online. The XO laptop has built in speakers, built in camera, game controller, built in microphone, back lit screen, keyboard shortcuts, touchpad, SD memory slot, rechargeable battery, power jack, usb/memory ports, external headphones and microphone jacks, a built in wireless network card, and best of all the XO laptops screen rotates rendering the device into a laptop or tablet pc. Unity 4 Humanity, Inc. believes the XO is the most durable and best educational and creative tool to date. In many ways the XO laptop is designed from an Anthropological perspective keeping in mind the various cultures and environments of children globally. Designed for extreme environmental conditions such as high heat and humidity, the XO laptop is definitely extremely durable, functional, energy-efficient, responsive, and fun.
Unity 4 Humanity, Inc. is an American based corporation designed to achieve success always giving in the process.
U4H Core Executives know successful corporations can be extraordinary humanitarians, and the Tree Of Unity assists real individuals and corporations struggling globally. In addition to the children of developing nations it is U4H, Inc.’s hope to work closely with One Laptop Per Child in the future and begin a movement to “empower the children of the United States and Europe” as well. When it comes to educating the youth, all countries are developing nations. This project began in “developing countries” and can continue globally until every child has access to information and educational opportunities.
